Eugene Coleman Jr. is a U.S. corporate attorney and strategic advisor who works with domestic and foreign investors on complex transactions where capital, control, and jurisdiction intersect. His practice centers on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital formation, and ownership transitions, including both foreign investment into the United States and U.S. capital deployed in acquisitions and operating platforms abroad.

Raised in the Midwest, Eugene earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, where he studied pre-law, political science, and Spanish. A three-sport varsity athlete, he developed an early discipline for preparation, execution, and performance under pressure, qualities that continue to inform his approach to negotiations and high-stakes decision-making.

Eugene began his professional career in public service working for Marcia Fudge, former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, where he gained firsthand exposure to federal policymaking, governance, and stakeholder coordination. He later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. During law school, he was an early employee at a legal technology company focused on artificial intelligence, where he worked on the development and enterprise deployment of contract intelligence platforms. That experience provided early insight into how emerging technology is commercialized and integrated within large, sophisticated organizations.

Following law school, Eugene trained in a big-law corporate private equity practice, advising on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, and complex corporate matters for institutional clients. His work focused on transaction structuring, risk allocation, and execution across multiple eight-figure transactions, including matters involving cross-border considerations and multi-jurisdictional governance.

Rather than remaining exclusively in traditional legal practice, Eugene moved into operating and investing roles. He served as Head of Operations and was later named Chief Executive Officer of a resiliency-as-a-service company, where he led strategy and execution in a capital-intensive, highly regulated environment focused on infrastructure resilience, continuity, and long-term asset performance. He later worked with a venture capital firm, supporting investment diligence, fund economics, and portfolio strategy.

Today, Eugene advises athletes, founders, business operators, independent sponsors, and institutional investors across the full lifecycle of ownership. His work includes buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions, fund formation, and general corporate matters, with particular emphasis on cross-border transactions involving foreign capital entering the United States and U.S. investors acquiring businesses and assets internationally. He regularly works with sponsors and institutions structuring investment platforms ranging from several million dollars to over $100 million.

Eugene practices through The Advisory, where he leads fund formation and transactional strategy for clients investing across jurisdictions and asset classes. He is known for translating legal and commercial complexity into clear, durable structures that allow capital to move efficiently while aligning incentives and managing risk.
